Hikikomori ("the app", "we", "us") is a private journaling and mental-wellbeing app created by Yiğit Kiremitci. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app handles and how.

Our approach is simple: your personal content stays on your device. We do not operate accounts or servers that collect your journal entries, moods, or other personal writing.

Information we collect

We do not collect personal information on our own servers. Specifically:

Data stored on your device

Your journal entries, mood logs, rituals, thought records, voice notes, sketches, photos, and settings are stored locally on your device. Sensitive content is encrypted on device. This data is under your control and is removed when you delete it or uninstall the app.

iCloud sync (optional)

If you enable iCloud sync, your app data is stored in your private iCloud account and synced across your devices using Apple CloudKit. This data resides in your iCloud account, is governed by Apple's privacy policy, and cannot be accessed by us. You can turn iCloud sync off at any time in Settings.

Microphone and speech recognition

If you record a voice note, audio is captured using your device microphone and stored locally. Speech-to-text transcription is performed on your device. Recordings are not sent to us or to any third party.

Notifications

The app may schedule local reminder notifications on your device. These are generated on-device; no notification content is sent through our servers.

Subscriptions and purchases

Subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles your payment information; we never receive or store your payment details. Apple may share limited, aggregated purchase information with us as described in Apple's policies.

Children's privacy

The app is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
